I got DJGPP up and running now. Looks great. Yesterday, I finally managed to get RHIDE & the Allegro graphics library installed. I was very impressed with both of them. However, I seem to be having a few problems with Rhide. I duplicated my MSVC++ project into anotehr directory, and deleted all the none source & header files (ie the stuff which MSVC sticks in to co-ordinate a project), and started Rhide. I created a new project and then stuck all the '.CPP' files in it. Double clicking doesn't edit them, and the project won't even start compiling... I know there is alot of conversion I need to do to get it to work, but...hmmm. I read something in the manual about case sensitivity on the filenames. Do I have to go through and rename all my files so that they end in '.cpp', and '.h'? Also, dependencies. MSVC++ automatically scans for dependencies when you change the project. Does Rhide do this? I notice that you pres CTRL-I to bring up the includes for a specific file. I don't have to type these in manually do I? This project is rather huge... and some files include alot of other stuff and it would be quite annoying to have to do this by hand. Or does Rhide do it, and just allow you to view/edit the include list? I have to say 'WELL DONE' to the author of Rhide. DJGPP is a nice compiler, and having at last, a decent IDE to work with, is great. Oh yeah, one other question. I downloaded the archive 'mikalleg10.zip', which is the combination of MikMod & Allegro. Everything has been built fine. No problems there. Does allegro use the wonderful DJGPP memory management? Rhide told me my memory situation was '8M / 6M'. Does this really mean I can finally write a program which is graphic intensive and may need to store megabytes of graphic/sound data? I do hope so... Sorry if I have been barking up the wrong tree with the wrong end of the stick .... -- Cheers, Ben -=Look for "Moo-Juice" on the IRC=- ---------------------====### legal notice ###====-------------------------- Microsoft Network is prohibited from redistributing this work in any form,in whole or in part.
