This *may* be because Slackware is a bare bones distro. So it does not
include the avahi deamon. (There is a slackbuilds.org script for adding
it if desired.)

Also, gtk+ has a Openprinting API (PAPI) backend which AFAICT may very
well use dbus as part of it's activities. To tell for certain I would
have to rebuild and reinstall gtk+ without PAPI and then see if the
error goes away. At the moment I'm not really that motivated. If you
aren't seeing the error on your system check to see if you have the
avahi deamon running.

In any case it doesn't strike me as being directly related to the
shortcut issue, unless the error is somehow disabling the shortcut.
