Oops! I missed that link. My eyes must have assumed it was part of the 
previous text. As you suggested, I used it to get the plain text patch 
and will try it soon.

My policy is to only build and install from trusted tarball releases as 
much as I can. That is the package system Slackware has set up and I am 
trying to follow it. I build my own Slackware packages from the tarballs 
and install the resultant packages, just like a Slackware package.

I did get the patch working with this plain text file. However, now it 
is hanging on the glib 2.58.3 requirement and Slack 14.2 has 2.46.2. The 
next hurdle.
