These are generated sources which shouldn't normally change, so I think 
it's better to include them in the repository.  (In the rare case that 
they do change, you'd want to review the changes before committing them.)

This appears to be some problem with m4_regexp and/or m4___file__.  Which 
version of m4 are you using?
