Solved it. Upgraded to the latest development version from git, installed guile development and also happened to lepton installed with package manager which was the was the reason backends showed up twice because I also installed locally compiled. Not totally sure what solved it but all of sudden it started to work.

I found there is a nettag command in tEDAx, no problem adding the tag and netname but have struggled a few hours to get attribute value for nets in here. For clerance/creepage a voltage class would be good here but are not sure tEDAx could convey information about clerance/creepage values between nets/voltage classes except adding a special component.
