Yes if polygon is used for pad and there is copper around the pad this happen. Draw connections with polygons is usually not the most practial method but but I have made circuit boards with a polygon connecting a few high current pins with more or less as much copper as there is place for.

Maybe it's not simple to figure out a good scheme to make in more general while not getting confusing.
