computer, so I actually know how to build a Slackware package. But pcb
isn't part of the Slackware distribution. You can get an older version
of pcb from sbopkg. I think I still have script lying around to build a
package from the latest git version if you'd like a copy.

I have been using Slackware for decades. I finally ditched dual-booting
windows about 2004-ish. I have not regretted it. There is nothing I
want to do on windows that I can't do on Linux.
Yes, pcb/gEDA is not distributed with Slackware. I just checked and
both are on SlackBuilds.org (SBo) https://slackbuilds.org/ . They have
pcb 20110918 and Geda-gaf 1.8.2 available. It must be active, since
they have modified the buildscripts for the latest Slack 14.2, which
just came out this past Summer. I use SBo to get most of my Slack
packages. I have my own buildscript boilerplate which I modify,
sometimes with data and processes from the SBo SlackBuild script. My
SlackBuild script has extensions to protect my system, which I learned
the hard way. For instance, my script allows optional user-space build,
which shows up ill-behaved builds that do unexpected things in
root-space, such as modify a root file or change permissions. I once
had a package that changed all /usr permissions to 700 (root-only)
access. That brought my system down and took a long time to recover!
So, I always do a user build before I do the final root build. My
script also does a check on the package (md5, sha, asc, etc.) to be sure
it is clean. My buildscript is a lot larger than the usual Slack
buildscripts, but it does a lot more and is safer. Memory and disk
drives are cheap. Time is not.
