Okay. Forgive my ignorance, but SDL is 'just' a low level access layer.

Quote from their website:

Simple DirectMedia Layer is a cross-platform development library designed to
provide low level access to audio, keyboard, mouse, joystick, and graphics
hardware via OpenGL and Direct3D. 

So they won't draw frames around your application, will they?
