Copy the display-color-map function from one of the gschem color map
files and insert it into your ~/.gEDA/gschemrc, then set the
net-endpoint color value there either to #f to not show it at all or,
say, to "#ff000060" to make it a little transparent and not such
annoying (I use the latter way; last two digits are for alpha channel).

The same trick can be used for printing. Just edit your print-color-map.

I believe this trick should work for gschem 1.8.

The color map file names are:
  gschem-colormap-bw
  gschem-colormap-darkbg
  gschem-colormap-lightbg

Search for them in your system (for Linux users, I can suggest to use
'locate', don't know what can be used on Mac).
