Because you choose to not see it. I've been careful to include other
backends when I mean "not just pcb" just because I know you're going
to complain if I don't give equal time to everything. Obviously that
didn't stop the problem, so I don't know why I bother. However, I'm
not going to put a disclaimer on every email I write that "just
because I only talk about pcb doesn't mean I'm an idiot, I know other
backends exist, and I know to include them in any workflow designs I
create, I just choose not to list every single one each time it comes
up."

I've done spice and verilog work too. I used to design PC
motherboards for a living, so I'm no newbie to EDA. My recent emails
have pushed for multi-backend solutions, and I've pushed for moving
the "heavy" symbol stuff out of gschem so that one design can target
multiple backends.

Sure, I'd like folks who use gschem+pcb to have a good initial
experience. I think most folks who are new to EDA are looking for the
various parts of the workflow to work well together, but that's not
religion, that's statistics - more people ask questions about pcb
integration than about other backends. Second is spice. Other
backends are a distant third.

> Pcb is *your* religion.

PCB is my *responsibility* not my religion. I'm the de facto owner of
it, so of course I care about how well it works. However, I don't
harp on pcb every time someone mentions one of the other backends.

> I sometimes think I'd get less of a reaction from you if I

Well, my mother is dead, so I doubt she'd be bothered by anything you
say about her. And for me to be bothered by it, I'd have to care
about your opinion of her. I don't. However, you have a loud voice
in the gEDA forums, and you *do* know about gEDA stuff, so I *do* care
about what you say here - because it reflects on all of us and affects
our community. Our community has suffered a lot because of negativity
in our discussions, and I've gotten more private complains about you
than about everyone else put together. So, I care.

In your most recent example, you forcibly included spice in a
discussion of trace widths, something spice doesn't have a concept of.
You also injected other layout tools when the user was asking about
one specific one. These comments are harmful to the discussion, yet
you persist despite people asking you to ease off. This does not
showcase your technical expertise at all.
