Thanks Bernd for the Pololu tip ~ I didn't know there were drop in circuits
like that.  I would have gone with one of these from the start and probably
saved myself much grief.

What really bothers me is that this driving chip that I was using worked at
one point and now I don't know what changed from when it did work.  I did
not change that driving circuit.

The one thing I hope to do today is put 12V to each coil and see if it will
step through at all.
