Peter,

I think it is unusual, because most CAD tools don't support it.

But, I think schematics look better with the high-side diode above the =
signal, and the low-side diode below the signal. At lest one CAD package =
has a notion of a pass-through pin. However, separate symbols allow more =
signals in between.

I contrived a small visual.
