I like the sitemap Roland created much better than
http://www.geda-project.org/, for the following reasons:

* The sitemap has visible top-level links to all the HOWTO FAQ etc
that you need to read to make gEDA do anything

* It doesn't send you to http://wiki.geda-project.org/ for the wiki,
which is a relatively poor page on the wiki that should probably go
away in favor of Roland's better sitemap

* It links to the useful FAQs and HOWTOs, rather than this less useful
one: http://wiki.geda-project.org/geda:faq

* It doesn't have a big bloated description of what gEDA is

* It doesn't artificially elevate the status of the individual tool
docs over the 'glue' docs
that you need to read to do anything with gEDA. gEDA is a very much a
toolbox and
www.geda-project.org ends up being misleading about the extent to
which that is true

* It shows what translations are available up front

www.geda-project.org does have some glossy icons for the tools but
that's about all there is to recommend it. IMO it would be better if
it went away in favor of the wiki.

I respectfully submit that DJ and Peter are probably not the best
people to make judgements about how the gEDA docs might be improved.
They are the most expert users around and aren't well situated to
judge what is confusing and off-putting to new users.

How about letting people who want to improve the docs have a shot at
it? Note that this would necessarily involve letting them remove some
things, as gEDA docs are seriously plagued by redundancy and unclarity
about what the new user needs to read to get going.
