With PCB's new import option, there's only one file, which is a set of
commands to pcb to tell it what the connectivity and BOM *should* be
(including pin labels and compoent attributes).  PCB compares that to
what *is* and makes the needed changes.  It still uses gnetlist (it's
the "pcbfwd" backend), but as it's a single file, it might be easier
to export to it, and it doesn't require you to figure out how to
synthesize any spatial information that might be needed in a
schematic.
