The Mageia Linux distribution will start the testing period for its next
release (Mageia 3) in September. According to Mageia policy, new
versions of upstream software are only allowed to be introduced with a
new Mageia release. Starting with january 2013, there will be an about
10-months period during which new upstream versions cannot be considered.

The Mageia distro includes packages with pcb, geda-gaf and gerbv. As the
maintainer of these packages, I therefore have a window between Sept. 3
and late December to introduce and test new up-to-date versions of these
packages (the currently installed versions are geda-gaf-1.7.2,
pcb-20100929 and gerbv-2.6.0).

My question is: most of this software will, by the end of the year, be
at least 1 year old - are there plans to release new versions (tarballs)
of pcb, geda-gaf and gerbv which I should consider?

pcb is a somewhat particular case: 20110918 had been available when
Mageia 2 had been released, but still had some problems which in the
meantime have been fixed, I just verified that with these fixes 20110918
is OK on Mageia 2 - but will also be 1 year old soon.
