I just opened one device. There was different silkscreens for different wattages of resistors. 1/4W drawn as European resistor symbol [=], 1/2W as curvy outline of through hole resistor and so on. Electrolytic capacitors had circle and segment hatched on - side and outside was + sign on other connector.

I don't know if it is convention but at least that was nice to repair. (Change the capacitors.)
