Ouch. That's a bit much.

I'm not sure wether you're aware of it, but in PCBs src/ folder is a  
script "pcbtest.sh" which is meant to run the freshly compiled  
executable for testing. Works always fine here and requires no  
library tree duplication. not even an installation of the new PCB  
binary. I hope it's in the source tarball, too; for myself I build  
from the git repo.
