Subject: ANNOUNCE: DJGPP V2.05 Released

Yes, we skipped 2.04 to keep things from being *too* confusing. Yes,
this has taken a long time and lots of work by many people, all of
whom I thank for their efforts, especially Juan and Andris :-)

I'm pleased to announce that DJGPP Version 2.05 has finally been sent
to the FTP mirrors for redistribution (although at the time of this
mail, they're still syncing it - it's a big change). The list of
changes from 2.03 to 2.05 is far too long to include in this email,
please read the What's Changed section of the Knowledge Base if you're
interested.

PLEASE use a mirror site if you can, else my outgoing bandwidth will
be saturated. Mirrors may take a few days to sync all the files,
please be patient. List of DJGPP mirrors:

   http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/getting.html

The primary FTP site for DJGPP is:

    ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/

The primary Web site for DJGPP is:

    http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/

Most people, especially new users, should use the Zip Picker interface
to select which files to download (although this may not work
correctly until the mirrors are all sync'd, and certainly not until
tomorrow or so):

    http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/zip-picker.html

For unpacking the files during installation, we recommend to use the
DJGPP binary of InfoZip's `unzip' program. It is available for
downloading from these URLs (or from any mirror):

    ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/unzip32.exe
    http://www.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/unzip32.exe

Unzip32.exe has the advantage of avoiding numerous pitfalls (mentioned
in README.1ST and in the FAQ) of unzipping DJGPP files on various
supported platforms, dealing with long vs short file names, etc.

Followups to this announcement, including any bug reports, should be
posted to the comp.os.msdos.djgpp news group. (If you cannot access
Usenet news, subscribe to and send electronic mail to
djgpp AT delorie DOT com, the email gateway into that news group.)

Enjoy!
