This is going to sound rude, but you don't "see"
rudeness.  Well, I doubt that anyone "sees" rudeness ...

You stated you "can't even tell when my brother is
joking in an email, and I've known him all his life".

If you can't detect humor, how are you able to detect
rudeness?   I think that's a fair question.  Don't you?
If you can't detect rudeness, do you have the right
to make comments about it?  I would say you don't.
