Not true. sound() writes to ports 42h, 43h and 61h which works fine
under Win-XP here (the port access is virtualised).

Maybe the OP uses delay() to hear the beep. djgpp's 
delay() as we know has problems under Win-NT. So he should
use usleep() instead.
