I have found that a 5x5 font does the trick nicely at 320x200. Of course,
you'll have to write your own routines to display it (but it's not hard) :-)

http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/ has a couple of documents in the user guide
section on the use of VESA. Alternatively, you could try a graphics lib,
such as Allegro.
