That's a heck of a crucial piece of info!  You should have told it before 
everything else.  Please try the latest version 2 of CWSDPMI, which is 
supposed to take care of some of the problems with HIMEM and EMM386.

When you run under Windows, CWSDPMI isn't used, because Windows itself 
has a built-in DPMI server.  Therefore possible problems with CWSDPMI and 
HIMEM/EMM cannot be seen under Windows.
