The ``normal'' compilation speed of Gcc, both for C and C++ programs, is 
spelled out in the DJGPP FAQ list (faq102.zip from the DJGPP v1.x sites), 
Chapter 7.  That chapter also discusses some reasons for slow compilation 
and the ways to correct them.
