Ok here is the deal. I started writing a replacement for command.com using

Turbo C then when I found djgpp I switched. Now I need some ideas for my

new shell I was thinking along the lines of a unix and dos shell all rolled

into one e.g. using ls or dir for a file list. I need ideas on what the

shell should look like say if you type dir should it print out a file list

like ms-dos does (time, date, etc.) or more like unix does (how does unix

do that, I mean the whole set the number of file names per line to the

longest file name in the directory, does it load all the names in memory or

what, that seems like it would take up a lot of mem)

anyway

my dream is to make a multi-threaded dos, i know i know its stupid but i

figured i had the next 4 years to kill (i start college next fall) so

i might as well do something intresting

so what do you guys think

(e-mail preferred usenet ok)

thanks
