I noticed this when working on the free DPMI, it is related to the
amount of time required to toggle the A20 line with HIMEM.SYS.  It's
not toggled in VCPI mode, just a few PTE's are changed.  Toggles
are fast in "raw" mode without XMS when GO32 does it.  Strange.
DJ suggested not toggling each mode switch, but I haven't tested to
see if that would cause problems.
