For serial communications there is the async library which is supposed
to do what you want. It's part of djgpp. 1.08.

As to page swap: I'd be also highly interested in getting a page flip
agraphics library to do animnationationsmooth animation on SVGA (ET4000). 

If anyone has written such a piece og f f code please post here or email.
I once started to port VOGL but due to the lack of page flipp9ining code
I abandoned it again.
