But wouldn't that bring the chicken-and-egg problem onto our poor newbies,
regarding unzipping of the DPMI server they may need to run that
DJGPP-compiled zip?

This might easily cause more problems than it solves. If at all, I'd
suggest putting *two* unzip.exe files into the main DJGPP dir on SimTEL: a
16bit raw DOS one, for users of DOS and NT, and a 32bit LFN-capable one
compiled with DJGPP. Along with instructions which one to choose, of
course...
