Subject: Useful version of zippo, DJGPP package manager, now out
Reply-To: djgpp-workers AT delorie DOT com

Hello.

I've just produced the latest snapshot of zippo. This is the first useful
version IMO. It supports the following:

- Parsing of most of the DJGPP Software Manifest (DSM) specification (see
  the zippo home page)
- Dependency checking
- Listing of all installed packages (manifest or DSM-based)
- Installation of packages using their DSMs

I have produced some DSMs for the latest DJGPP packages (gdb, gcc), also
available at the home page. I recommend using the one for gdb for testing,
like so:

zippo --initdb --root e:/djgpp
zippo -i gdb418b.dsm

(with gdb418b.dsm & gdb418b.zip in the current directory).

You can download binaries or sources for zippo here:

http://www.phekda.freeserve.co.uk/richdawe/zippo/

There is still a lot of work to do - zippo is definitely still in the
alpha stage. The DSM specification is now almost fixed - just the
scripting is left to do.

Bye,
