You can begin by opening "COM1" or "COM2" as if it were a file, and then using functions that read and write files, like `read', `write', etc. If this is somehow not good enough, the DJGPP FAQ list mentions in section 22.3 several packages that can be used with DJGPP for establishing serial communications.
